    This medal was issued during the 1926 American Sesquicentennial celebration by the State of Connecticut to both to commemorate 150th anniversary of death of Nathan Hale, who was shot as spy in 1776, and for the dedication of the Connecticut Building on the exposition grounds. This medal was designed by George S. Godard and struck by the Whitehead & Hoag Co. Only 5,000 bronze examples of this piece were minted. The obverse of the medal shows the Connecticut State Building and the 1776-1926 dual date for the Sesquicentennial celebration in Philadelphia. The reverse shows a statue of Nathan Hale, 1755-1776 (only 21 years old when he was hanged by the British, Patriot and Martyr, with his famous quote “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” The medal is 38mm in diameter and in excellent condition.
