Offered is an original JENNINGS Sun Chief nickel slot machine, made especially for the NEVADA CLUB in LAKE TAHOE, Nevada.   Since the turn-of-the-century, O.D. Jennings was one of the major manufacturers of slot machines.  Of all the makers, Jennings machines are well regarded as the best.  Their mechanisms are silky smooth to play and highly dependable, making them a favorite of operators then, and collectors today.

This machine is a “light up” model, meaning the orange panels on the front, along with the window where the reels are displayed will light up.  However, this example DOES NOT have the light kit.  As seen in the photos, the light box panels are factory installed, but this model did not get the lighted option.  (Light kits are available, and I am happy to provide a source to the winner.)  This machine also has a working jackpot feature, but the “jackpot” unit has been removed.  The feature works when the reels match three of the “Nevada Cowboy” figures, but it obviously does not pay out.  This machine was set up to be paid my an attendant.  Add the jackpot mechanism, and the machine will accumulate coins in the window, and pay out with the winning combination.

This example has been professionally serviced,  and plays and pays perfectly.  The mechanism is exceptionally clean and shows very little wear.  The light panels are free of cracks and breaks.  The chrome is still in very good condition with isolated wear from age.  The case is solid and exhibits normal wear from use.  No cash box, but copies are readily available.  The back door is original, and has the small opening for the power cord, along with the paper instructions intact.  A lock is present but, NO KEY.  The brass “Nevada Club Cowboy” figure was made to replace the Jennings Indian figure.  These are collectible in their own right, complete the machine, and easily identify its origin.     Whether you get the lighting kit or jackpot for this machine is a matter of preference….it does not take away from how fun and easy this machine is to play.  If you only want to own one machine, please consider a Jennings.  It will provide years of trouble-free enjoyment, and it is easy for kids to play.
