Special delivery, dated envelope and letter with Walt Disney signature.
This is a very rare Walt Disney 1937 sympathy letter with envelope from Walt Disney to Mrs. McCoy regarding her husband… Harry McCoys death
Harry McCoy was a film actor and screen writer. He also appeared in 155 films.
And according to the letter, Mr. Harry McCoy was working at Walt Disney only a few months before he passed away in Sept 1937.
The letter is dated Sept 2, 1937 is written with Walt Disney letter head in Bold and at the top of the page further down it starts off with My dear Mrs. McCoy
We are all so shocked to hear of Harry’s death.
And ends with May we offer to you our very deep sympathy.
Sincerely yours Walt Disney in black/blue ink. the ink looks black but when held up to the light the Walt Disney signature is in blue writing.
Envelope addressed to Mrs. Mercedes McCoy
I sent the same pictures to several experts including
Phil Sears and Heritage auction house, both agreed in the seperate but following words.
“your letter appears to be signed by Walt Disney” and “looks authentic to me “. ” while not a warm and fuzzy letter, it is still very desirable in that it is 1937″. “it was a very attractive item”
it has been estimated and offered an undisclosed amount as i think it is only fair since there are so many emails from people all over the world interested in this early treasured signature and letter. It is actually a double collectible as Harry McCoy was very famous and was in his early fourties when he died.
The envelope indicating time of letter being sent and delivered written in pencil Special Delivery and stamped September 2 5pm Los Angeles and on the other side Stamped Spec. DEL. SE Sep 2 6pm 1937 Los Angeles California.
The letter and envelope are in great condition showing very little age. No rips or tears
