Fresh from a very large estate collection. This is an original 1930 c/n 7525 Solid Brass (dark from age) Lima locomotive builders plate! It measures: 16″ long by almost 9+1/2″. The plate is curved where it was bolted to the locomotive boiler.You can also see some bolt impressions on this plate. There is dark rust color, and black age on the back side of this plate. There also appears to be some smaller numbers to the right of the word “LIMA” near an inner edge of this plate which read:” 54-158 ” (look closely and you can see these #s in the first photo).
From what I’ve been able to research this Lima locomotive was bought by the Chesapeake & Ohio RR. It is from what is represented to be the Second generation of “Super Power” steam locomotives with the wheel arrangement of 2-10-4. It is a very nice plate in very good+ condition.
